I have a 1993 Nissan Altima that has been cutting out for the last couple of weeks. The other day it died and I have not been able to start it since. I have replaced the fuel filter, tested the injecter plugs with a NOID light, replaced the distributer cap and roter bug. it is firing and getting gas to the injector rail. My question is; Is it possible that my fuel pump is not producing enough pressure to open the injectors? It is a fairly expensive part and a pretty involved repair. I do not want to spend the time and money unless I am sure. The pump is currently producing about 15 to 20 psi at the where the fuel line goes into the injector rail, I am just not certain if that is enought to open the injectors. any help will be greatly appreceiated.

wow, someone who has taken the time to actually measure fuel pressure.

well done!

15-20 should be enough to start it, but is WAY below spec. may cut out immediately under load. was that 15-20 static, or with fuel also going into the injectors (tee)?

you did also check under the dust plate inside the distributor (under the rotor) for oil tracking, right? seems this is so common here lately.

also, perhaps a second tier investigation--the noid light won't tell you your injector ohmage. they should be 13-17 ohms absolute and very close to each other in value
