no problem man, just figured i'd ask. I'm glad that you already took care of that harness issue too. I wouldn't want to hear about you gettin in an accident and being hurt because of it.

yeah definitely. trust and believe, someone here in huntsville with a civic died because of his harness. it wa smounted to the bolts that hold the seat rails down and because of that his spine was compressed.

on a happier note, today, i got 2 things. i got the trunk springs so i can open the trunk without the use of a vice grip and careful placement, and i got a stock steering wheel so now my horn works and the turn signal release works. also, the steerign wheel isn't made out of chewing gum and duct tape i am definitely a happy camper

UPDATE!!!!

got me some new headlights!!!! the ones on the car were spray painted some dingy yellow laquer looking color. what spurred the replacement was the following story:

so i drive on campus and the gat elady is like, u got a light out. so i go to wal-mart to pick up another sealed beam. i put th enew one in, and stil no light. must be the wiring... all wires are good. must be a fuse.... why the hell was there a 30A fuse instead of a 15A? luckily the 15 for the cigarette lighter (not even plugged in) is still good. quick swap and BINGO! light comes on. now, the selaed beam wa slike 8 bucks, so why not get another? so now i have 2 clea rlights and i can see. that yellow paint laquer stuff really diminished my visibility:

also, i found some lowars and i'm going to put teh lowars on ym car tomorrow... hopefully

Dude dont start on the fail trail...Dont paint your wheels pink unless your dumped on coils

pink wheels on cut springs = gheypink wheels on coils = sexy time

Have fun riding on that junk and putting peoples lives at risk on the road. Ricer nonsense, please buy some real suspension parts.

Troof,

Dunno what compelled you to cut something that is engineered to work a certain way, GJ compromising it.

I would rather you give you give the car back to the previous owner, at least he was smart enough not to cut springs...

flamage indeed. lol.

1. just a temporary thing until i get my coils in a couple weeks2. really won't be driving the car that much anymore since i beat on it so much. that's why i have a daily driver (the camry) so i will treat it as such

(paint + coils = what i'm gonna do, lol. good looking out though. i appreciate it)

It really does kind of bother me when people start making claims on subjects they've never come across with. When I first bought my 240 it had cut springs, it was very low and I never had a problem with it. I now have coilovers. (finally sold my AGX/Tein combo )

So to those people saying "I would never drive on cut springs" lets hear your story. If you or anybody you know had a fatal crash because of cut springs, I'd like to hear it. Not everybody has loads of money to blow off on something unnecessary like coilovers.

And please understand I am NOT trying to be a d**k with anyone here, I dont want to start anything. Just want to hear facts.

It defeats the whole engineering perspective of a spring and strut, one could write a page easy on everything that is wrong with cutting springs and the effects. Research and google.

And coilovers not needed? Maybe to you, but many people want the added performance and adjustability they offer.

I don't feel like going through google, copy and paste everything and then post in here calling it my own info. Everyone has their own theories including large companies. EX: when you see an item on the net one band says "this" is the best design blah blah blah, then another says different.

No many people don't really want added performance they just want to make their car look good (like me). Unless they are actually doing racing of some type.

OP sorry for the BS. Im done here.

Even if you just want it to look good there are PROPER ways of doing things. Cutting something that is engineered to work a certain way is compromising the whole spring.

Just because you don't have the money does not warrant hazardous decisions. There is a reason why there is a difference between wants and needs.

If your broke as f*** then save up longer, this kind of decision making is what led to so many s***ty hack job 240's that float around

You came here asking for facts when you have not stated your own. Sure you got lucky enough that nothing happened when you bought and drove that car.

OEM springs are not meant to be cut, they are made the way they are for a reason. If you honestly believe that it is safe to drive on cut springs you might as well only run half the lugnuts of your studs are broken, or make half a brake pad also.

hackjobs.

not my info but you guys can take & do with it what you want... http://www.engineersedge.com/spring_comp_calc.htm

When you cut springs you take away from the overall distance (standing = Free length of spring). This changes the formula enough that the force generated could damage the rest of the suspension components.

Oh, and, this following picture is 3 months of saving from a part-time job while doing 18 hours of classes for the semester.

Don't cheap out on things that keep you on or off the ground.

im surpised that everyone is soo ZOMG NOOOO YOUR GUNNA DIE about cut springs.... my coupe i cut the springs about 5,000 miles ago and well not dead yea... nor do i have damaged suspension parts...

my camaro i had b4 the 240.... cut the lowering spring to get the look i wanted and stiffen up the ride...

just FYI moog sell springs that are cut to height/ spring rate. cutting springs is a viable solution on the cheap.

im sorry but my paychecks go to more needed things than coils... i wish i could afford a set but i have more important things to spend my money on and i dont like driving around 4x4 style

it's been awhile nico. cut springs are still doing fine... got new brakes and some pretty nice tires for dail ydriving and about 10 extra tires for getting sideways, lol. we went out this weekend, had a blast. my next mod i'm thinking of doing i sgetign energy suspension bushings, the master kit. i looked at my stock bushings from 93 and they are not pretty, lol. i'm still alive and still here, so stay tuned...
