Since I don't know that much about cars I need some help... my car needed a new radiator which the mechanic said he put in but a week later theres a leak and the mechanic says its the radiator so nowI'm ticked off because he said he had put a new one in so my question is why is it leaking a week later?! now he says I need a new water pump(since he has too replace the radiator) which makes sense but shouldn't that have been put in when he did the radiator the first time?...

Welcome to NICO.

Either the mechanic is incompetent or just ripping you off. If he really replaced the radiator, then check it if it's new. Regardless, that radiator, new or not, must be replaced free of charge by that mechanic since you already paid for it. You have to insist on a free radiator replacement.

Do you have any idea where the actual leak is coming from? Did your mechanic pointed out the actual source of leak? In some cases, the leak may only be due to loose radiator hose.

The water pump and radiator do not necessarily fail together. That mechanic should have done verification testing such as pressure test when servicing the cooling system. As for the water pump, if it's really leaking, you may be better off finding another mechanic. Your car may need further diagnostic as to why it is leaking.
