Hey there.

Good to see another 3rd Gen owner on here.

Head on over to the Maxima section to get a better response.

But for a quick reference...I'm going to assume that your Maxima is an SE which makes your engine a VE30DE.

Your best bet would be just to find another VE to swap in. To find this you have to look for a '92 '93 or '94 Maxima SE. The GXE's in the same year as well as all Maxima's before that will have the VG30E. This is the engine I have in my '92 GXE. It makes 160 hp stock where yours will make 190 hp stock.

This swap will be the easiest and cheapest choice. If you do find a VG it will mate up to your 5spd no problem you just will need the wiring harness as well. If you wanted to go that route even though it has lower hp it has a better compression if you wanted to turbo it. But that is starting into a whole other bag of worms.

Another choice is getting a VQ30DE from new a Maxima but that is a little more of a project.

So the cliffnotes: Look for a VE30DE for direct replacement from a 92-94 SE if you want the easiest and direct fix.

If you have any other question's just let me know. And if anyone wants to chime in they can as well...if I'm wrong on anything correct me!!

Welcome to NICO!!!

Find out why it's running on 3 cylinders. If it's something mechanical get another VE and have the VTC's rebuilt before you drop it in. The VE30 is already a stout engine.

you don't necessarily need to throw it out. there could be a lot of reasons why it is not running on all cylinders.
