1993 J30T sun roof hard to close/0pen

I know this has been covered before but I can't find the comments. My sun roof is getting harder and harder to open and close. Sometimes it locks up half open. Are there preventive maintenance actions I should have been taking before now? Is it too late? Any help/direction is appreciated.
