Before everyone jumps on me about the search button or carlos's website on DIY.. i have looked into these site and i have a nice warm and fuzzy but i wanted to post and let you see how badly i mess this one up with perfectly good instructions

i recently bought this j30 and runs like a champ!148k and its cherry.. i got it from this elderly rich couple who bought it staright from the dealership and everything (EVERYTHING ) has been done by the dealer...

i think the only bad thing is that the sunroof sticks and the radio head unit just stoped working.. so i read the site carlos has and am going to try his clever technique and see about gettting a 1993 nissan maxima bose system car kit ..well see if this work and if i cant find it ill order it thru the crutchfield site as carlos recommended.. i am kinda iffy on replacing the car stereo since its my 1st time on replacing the radio.. so this is what i gotta get 1st.. (correct me if im wrong)

You will need the Bose adapter which I guess is the ROEM-NIS1. I'm not familiar with that particular unit so make sure it's the right one for your car. The one I used is made Scosche. The main thing you want is for this adapter to have a matching wire harness to the harness that currently plugs into your Bose unit. In other words, you want to take the wire harness that plugs into the back of your Bose and you want to plug it into the adapter you buy. This is the one that I know fits your car:

You will also need a pocket adapter - this is nothing more than a plastic box that will make up the gap left by the double-size Bose unit. On the top half, you'll have your new stereo, on the bottom half you will have this plastic box acting as a new storage compartment.

When you remove the Bose unit, it will have two metal brackets attached. One bracket on each side. You have to reuse this bracket because the bracket not only holds the Bose unit, it also holds the AC controls. So you remove this bracket from the Bose. Your new stereo will mount to the top half of this bracket (the holes on the new unit will line up with the holes on the factory brackets). The plastic pocket will take up the bottom half.

You will also need a Nissan FM antenna adapter. This is because your new unit's FM antenna plug has a single prong. Nissan/infiniti FM antennas have two prongs. Nissan calls this a diversity antenna. You can find these Nissan antenna adapters at any car audio shop. Circuit City and Best Buy also have these since they need them when they do installations in Nissan cars.

Here is a link to one of these antenna adapters. One end will plug into the Infiniti antenna connector, one of the other two ends will plug into your head unit. When you look at the picture below, the lower side (the side with "crutchfield.com" by it) is the side that plugs into the factory antenna wire. The other end of the adapter (the side with two wires) connects to your new head unit. Note that one of those two wires on the other end will not be used. Your new head unit can have a male or female antenna connector so the Nissan antenna adapter comes with both male and female tails just in case. Only one of those will be used.
