I am trying to install a VR3-VRDC400 SDU stereo into my J30. I posted this in another thread, but I need to drive my car everyday, and until I get the stereo installed the lights aren't working, so there is a sense of urgency. Before I put the stereo in the mount everything worked great, it received power, played music, the works. I mounted it on the frame and went to my car to plug it all in, I opened my car door, sat down and turned a light on to see, and I saw a spark on the main wire coming out of the dashboard. I then plugged in the stereo and now it no longer receives any sort of power. If I turn the key the stereo flashes for a millisecond but will not turn on (this flash only occurs if the antenna adapter is not plugged into the back). I've checked the wiring on the FAI-3A multiple times, and everything seems to be in order. Anybody have any ideas? Thank you very much.

it's not the fuse on the radio, maybe fix the fuse inside the car?

I looked at a wiring diagram, and it said the green orange wire is the constant v12+ wire. I noticed on mine there is a small cut on that particular wire, that may have been the cause for the spark. If so, and the fuse is not blown am I screwed and have to take it to a dealership to repair?

I don't about your cd player, but with every stereo I have installed the solid yellow wire is the constant power supply and the red is the acc power. Also the orange wire is the dashboard light dimmer switch so that the cd player dims when you lower the interior lights, this may explain your lighting issues. This has been my experience, but then again not all cd players were created equal. Good luck!

Now the car wont even start...it turns over, and there is power to the car (headlights/lights turn on, dashboard turns on, etc) but it wont start. I checked the fuses to the fuel pump and starter and they are not blown. Any Ideas? Thanks
