Hey guys and girls I am new to nico and am looking for some help. I am getting ready to do a transmission swap in my 93 j-30.I was wondering if anybody has any tips or ticks that would help out in this area.

I have never done a transmission swap before and was concidering getting a used one from my local auto wreckers.

Is this a good idea???

I really dont wanna spend 3k on a new one and the local transmission shop says that the transmission needs a new set of planetary gears( which will cost about 2800).

I will post pics and what not about how the whole proccess goes if I decide to go ahead and do it myself.

Thanks Nico for all you do for Us!!!

Welcome to NICO!!!

The only downside with getting a used transmission from a salvage yard is not knowing how long it will last.

If you plan to keep the car for any period of time get a re-manned Nissan unit-they actutally come with a warranty from a Nissan dealer.

Q45tech can chime in.

How much do these run???

I love my J and plan keep it a verry long time, so with that said what is the best way to go for the least amount of cash???

Ohh by the way here is a pic of my J-30.

Thanks again,

Hey I need some advice about my car and especially from Rickh22 if possible. I have the same problem like you. Did you already replace your transmission and if you did can you give me some suggestions. I found some cheap ones for about 300 to 500 $ but I'm afraid if I order from these salvage yard places should I. Are you gonna post some pics with the new transmission. Because I am wondering if I can do the work by myself. thanks
