1993 J 30 electrical problem

when driving down the road the a/c and power steering shuts off, the power windows and turn signals dont work. The radio however does work and the power door locks work. If you shut the car down for a period of time and restart the car it all works again. I have checked fuses and ground wires these are ok. Any suggestions would be helpful!

What condition is your alternator and battery in and is your alternator an OEM Nissan unit or something else?

Everything else is fine, the problem is somewhere in the wiring. I need help in where to track it down!

Reason he was asking is that non-OEM alternators and batteries are known to cause problems with the J30.

Check all your fuses, make sure none are loose.

Locate the fuse for the electrical components your having problems with, and double check them.

After that you'll have to check out the wiring diagrams from the service manual, and try to trace down any broken wires.

I'm sure someone who knows a lot more will chime in with better suggestions.

Clean and tighten your battery terminals, clean your ground connections, and make sure the positive terminal isn't shorting against anything such as the underside of the hood.
