Hey guys im new here and i have a question. I did a swap from an 93 to a 89 and everythiings hooked up right = besides not having a exhaust on ( it goes to cat then its cut off) and my problem is that when i start it it doesnt stay idling it just bogs down and cuts off what could it be?? all help appreciated

sounds to me like a vacuum leak, make sure your lines around the egr valve and a long side of the block are in the correct position and leading to the right place...

you could rebuild a engine like nothing but in these 90's model cars the vacuum lines is most the battle...

you could also check the timing

Thanks but another question is could it be a fuel pump problem?

Ain't but one way to find out fuel pump pressure tester. But it sounds like a vacuum leak as 24j0hn said, but it also sounds like a restriction/timing problem.

Friend got a new head and put it on, and the car hasnt been running for a while, tried starting it after he got the timing squared away and it would die like you said, we found the vacuum leak and that fixed it
