OK, I have addressed the Dome light issue staying on with my Security system in my 1993 Infiniti J30. Turned out that the culpret was the Remote Control Receiver Unit in the Trunk just beyond the Power Antenna module on the same side. I went to the local "Pull-A-Part" Salvage Yard and located another 1993 Infiniti J30 like my own. I plugged up the new circut board and closed the trunk lid and the dome light went out and it all seems to be working correctly. However I went to reprogam my remote (Electronic Key as Johnathan Pryce said in the J30 Commercial...LOL) to no avail. I followed the programming procedure below:

SERVICE PROCEDURE
While sitting inside the vehicle:
(1) Open the trunk.
(2) Close and lock all doors.
(3) Insert and remove the key from the ignition six times within 10 seconds.
(4) Manually unlock and lock driver's door once to enable "Belting" mode.
(5) Push lock button on the new remote controller once, just long enough to hear within 5 seconds of completing step 4.
(6) If additional remotes are needed (up to 3), repeat steps 4 and 5 for each additional remote immediately after programming the first remote.
NOTE: a total of four (4) remotes can be programmed to function on the same vehicle.

I Assume that I am not reching the "belting" mode to program my remote. Is there something wrong with this Remote Control Unit as well? I am able to still arm and disarm the security system with the Key in the door but would like to have my remote working again. Please Help!!!!

Thanks,

Larry

Yeah my Rear Window Defroster works perfectly. My issue was just that my dome lamp with the ring around the Ignition Key switch and door lock cylinders were staying iluminated is why I had to replace the original remote control unit. The one that I replaced the unit from was also a 1993 Infiniti J30 like the one I have. But the only way my dome lamp and the other lights would cut off was to open the trunk lid. Go figure, I guess since the doors AKA dome lamp, Trunk AKA Trunk Light and the Hood switch are all monitored by the onboard security system....Maybe it stands to reason. But I had read through the Service manual from my trunk and it says that if you are having certain issues with the security system; that the remote module should be replaced. So I replaced the module with one from another 1993 Infiniti J30. But for the life of me I am not able to get the remote to program with this new remote control module, utilizing the previously mentioned procedure which is also the exact same one listed in the 1993 Infiniti J30 service manual. I was about to call my dad and see if the folks he knows at a local Infiniti specialty shop may know how to address this issue. Unless anyone else has another Idea that could save me some money since I am on disibility and money stays tight for me...Please enlighten us...LOL

Thanks,

Larry

Yoda, Ya know I have not checked. I didnt realize that would be an issue. The FCC numbers have to always match? The Service manual said absolutely nothing about that. Is there a work around if they didnt? See I never kept the box I just used the circut board out of the new box and put it into the orignal box. Any other ideas? I had no choice but to replace the original remote control unit because of that dome lamp staying on. When the remote control unit acted up I still could not access the remote control unit via my remote. I still have the original circut board if that is helpful.
