Hi all, I am the proud owner of a wonderful 93 Infiniti J30,i buy this vehicle a month ago, the car has 70,000 miles and is in perfect condition, the only thing that has damaged is the sunroof, for some reason does not open or close with the switch, but, if i push manually while pressn the button, then i can open the sunroof ... of rest everything perfect ... however, today, i turned on the car, place reverse, start, and suddenly the car power off after a few meters, I turn once, place the lever in position P, and try turning it on again, and never power on again ... The symptom is as follows:

i Turn the key and the signal SECURITY blinks several times, but when I turn the key to start the engine, the board does not receive any kind of signal, the radio does not turn on, the air conditioned does not power on, the board signal don't turn on, nothing happens, it's like No power to board, like i never turn the key ... simply, nothing... however, the interior and exterior lights lit, chairs, electrical, all the rest work ok, and the battery have full charge ... but I can not start the car ... is as if something was preventing the electricity came to the board and starter...

The car has an external alarm that put the old owner, however, i disconnect all cables and I can not turn on the car ... : ( This is very sad to me ... and worst of all ... this car is in Venezuela, and here, there is no Infiniti Dealership since there are only five such cars in the country (according to information from the street )

I have checked the fuses that are in the engine ... but seem to be all right ...

Anyone know what could happen? and that I should check to fix it?

Any help is welcome:)

Thanks in advance

Are the connections at the battery posts tight and clean? Maybe the alternator or battery have gone bad? What's the battery voltage measured across the posts? Have you had to recharge the battery lately?

Clean the battery posts and clamps first and make sure they're good and tight.

I have a strong suspicion its the alternator. Do you know if the alternator is a Nissan OEM unit or an aftermarket one?

I would order a Nissan OEM rebuilt or new alternator unit from a Nissan dealer. Aftermarket alternators are known to cause all sorts of electrical and starting headaches on J30's.

id test voltage of the battery, clean the posts and see what that does.

if you can charge the battery and it starts, then it is the alternator.
