1993 Hardbody grinding 4x4

When put into 4x4 the truck will make a grinding sound while driving. It happens more often and more violently during sharp turns. In 2wd there is no grinding. One hub is very hard to select the lock position (manual hubs) so I took it off to clean and lube it. Is it possible to take apart the main hub section thats inside the hub casing. I cant figure it out.

as an update I changed the hub and the grinding continued. Here is some info that might narrow down the problem. In 4hi or 4lo with hubs locked it grinds while accelerating and turning . While in 4hi or 4lo with hubs in free position there is no grinding at all.

Any ideas?

sounds like a transfer case issue to me

Replace the lockout hubs will usually fix it it is usual the opposite one u think it is. Had alot of problems with them
