1993 D21 towing capacity

I have a 1993 Nissan D21 HardBody PU. 4cylinder 2wd 5sp regular cab. I am going to be towing my motorcycle with a sidecar to Sturgis SD from Portland Oregon. in August. The trailer I am using is a 6'x12' utility trailer with a gvw of about 2995lbs and the motorcycle with sidecar weighs 750lbs. Will this truck be OK to tow that trailer?? The truck has been well taken car of and only has 109,000 miles on it

The Maximum recommend towing capacity is rated at 3500 lbs. Lot of considerations. Tongue weight, ball capacity. Single or tandem axle, axle location, hitch drop, tire rating on truck, bumper towing capacity. You are also going to have to deal with road grade percent. Wind speed, outdoor temp. AC use age. The best answer would be to load the motorcycle on the trailer and drive around to get a feel of what to expect. You might want to look for a lighter trailer. Need to also factor in the weight of misc. supplies.

I am having a class III hitch put on the truck. The trailer is a single axle and most of the drive there will be done at night and early morning when I get to where I am going so I will not have to be as concerned about the heat and I don't use AC. The trailer says GVWR 2995lbs and GVWR all 3500lbs. It is a loaner so I am a bit confused as to which one means what.

I just checked with the manufacturer of the trailer and the trailer its self only weighs about 1100lbs and the bike is only about 800lbs so the truck will pull it with no real issues of being over loaded. The GVWR and GAWR are the max total of trailer with a load on it

Sounds excellent, glad to hear it will work. Is the trailer equipped with brakes? Laws vary from state to state.
