Hi! I have a 1993 240sx running a 1995 ka24de engine, and the #2 cylinder is not firing, and the car is running insanely rich. I haven't done much to the car, it has a custom short-ram intake, hotshot headers, crank pulley, catco cat, and a rs-r ex-mag exhaust.

I have:

-changed the plugs-changed the maf/ maf plug/ re-grounded maf-changed the engine temp sensor (coolant temp. sensor)-switched the spark plug wires to rule out wires as source of problem-added new gas-cleaned all electrical connections, i.e. injector plugs, distributor plugs, sensors, etc.-checked for vacuum leaks/intake leaks

It will start and idle between 600-1100 rpms, usually hovering around 1000, then dropping to 750, then jumping back up.

The next step I've been told is to try to replace the distributor rotor, and possibly the ignition coil.

Any other suggestions? I'm nearly ready to just give up, I'm so frustrated with this car. Thanks

If your only losing one cylinder but running really really rich you may have more than one problem...

Could you give us some background on this. When did it start?

Actually it was running just fine up until about 2 weeks ago, i drove to a local shop, parked, got my new rotors, and ten minutes later when I started it back up it was running horribly; shaking and blowing white vapor and unburnt gas out the tailpipe, as well as a strong smell of gasoline while I was driving.

I barely got home, it actually died while I was coasting in neutral a couple times, as well as I had to keep my foot on the gas the entire time to keep it from dying.

It hasn't driven since. I originally just thought it was a rich problem, so I got a new maf and etc like I posted originally, but then I checked the spark plugs and wires and figured out the cylinder wasn't firing.

Hope thats enough background

Today, I replaced the distributor cap and the rotor, to no avail.Started compression testing and was interrupted by work. Hopefully I will be able to do that later this evening.

That's the latest.

Computer reads code 55 - stupid pos...

good luck with your car

UPDATE!i swapped the injectors from cylinders 2 and 3, somehow that fixed it ... idn what kinda gremlins were in my car, but they seemed to have settled down . It felt great to drive my car on the streets again.
