I have a 1993 Nissan 240sx with about 180000 miles and the clutch is slipping. I removed the transmission and replaced clutch, pressure plate, t-out bearing, and pilot bearing. When I installed the transmission there is about a 1" gap between the transmission and bell housing. It won't go any closer---like something is not aligned. Anybody have any idea to help me close the gap?

how did u install the new pilot bushing? if u hit it with anything then u most likely mushroomed the end if it so the input shaft on the transmission wont fit in it any more, so take a fille and file the end of the pilot bushing and make sure it fits.

but if its not that those trannys r just plain bithces to put in, it took me and my friend 2 hours just to get it to slip in completly and ive heard it can take up to 6 hours. just have 1 person move the bellhousing around and have another person at the back of the transmission pushing toward the motor.

and to make the whole job easier, jack the front of the motor up witha spare jack to angle the motor transmission connection downwerd.

use longer bolts to hold the transmission in place and tighten up the gap. it can be a real pita to do.
