Master clutch cylinder and slave cylinder. I just put both in and pumped the clutch until it came through the slave cylinder, now the clutch is super stiff and has hardly and travel, and it is difficult to put into gear. What should I do?

yeah I thought I did, but just for the record this is what I did:
1. loosen bleed nipple on slave cylinder
2. Push down clutch
3. tighten bleed nipple
4. pull up on clutch
5. repeat

and then that didnt work, so I did
1. loosen bleed nipple
2. push down clutch
3. pull clutch back up
4. tighten bleed nipple
5. repeat

neither of those seem to work, am I still doing it wrong?

Do it like a brake bleed.

Nipple closed.
Pump the clutch a few times.
Hold clutch down then Open nipple while still holding clutch down. (need second person for this)
Let air/bubbles out.
Tighten nipple. (let go of clutch only once closed)
Repeat until it is engaging/disengaging correctly.

Then top off fluid

ok i tried it, and its a little better but not 100% yet. Do you think it just needs to break in? Also, there is a little screw on the bottom of the master clutch cylinder. Is that important for something?

That screw holds the piston in. You pull it for disassembling. I would keep working that clutch. I'll bet you still have air in those lines

No, that's not normal. Sounds like you may have a leak somewhere letting air in. Check your fittings to make sure everything is tight after what you replace.

If you open the bleeder screw with the clutch pedal depressed then yes, it is normal to have to pull the pedal back up.

It sounds like your clutch pedal is out of adjustment, crawl back under the dash and turn the the rod that connects the pedal to the master a couple of turns, and retest the clutch engagement. If it gets better keep turning the rod in the same direction until it engages like it should, if it gets worse turn the rod the other direction until it engages properly.

ok ill try that too, but i found a nick in the clutch line, but it doesnt go all the way through. I just bought a steel braided clutch line to make sure i never have to deal with this again

With the braided line, if you run it directly to the slave, you should be able to just gravity bleed it. That has worked for me several times - quick and easy and a one person job.

nevermind i figured it out, but one of the holes for the slave clyinder is stripped >.< and my clutch still feels like crap. I'm going to eat my pride and take it into a shop because i really want to drive my car again

did you strip the bleeder threads? that happened to me twice when i first did my clutch. dont over tighten the bleeder. youll probably have to get a new slave.
whats worked for me is to do it like Ziggy said.
have someone pump the pedal a few times and then hold it down while the bleeder is closed.

then you open the bleeder while the pedal is still pressed. thatll cause the fluid/air to rush out.

close the bleeder while the pedal is still pressed. bring the pedal back up. at this point i like to top off the fluid to make sure i dont run out while bleeding. cause if you do, more air is just going to get back in the line and youll be there all day doing nothing.

then just repeat until you dont see any more bubbles coming out and until the pedal gets stiff. i like to do this a few more times to be absolutely positive theres no air. should be just a solid stream of fluid.

use a clear hose that you can fit on the nipple of the bleeder and run it into some sort of container. that way you can easily see when all the air bubbles are out.
hopefully that helps
also, like kouki munster said, make sure the adjustment rod is properly adjusted. it takes some trial and error. i like to slowly let off the clutch until the car starts to creep forward and make note of where it engages compared to when its all the way pressed and when its all the way returned

no i stripped the one that hold the slave onto the transmission, and i have to push it all the way to the floor and its really mushy, and theres a tin bit of area where the clutch is engaged, and the rest is just travel

my mistake. so that means the threads on the transmission its self are stripped, correct?
is it possible to get some pictures of how everything is right now? cause i have the basically the same exact set up (new master/slave and chase bays ss line)

Don't forget to bleed the clutch damper if you didnt bypass it. Sometime I'd have to bleed there then the slave if my line when dry.

the shop i took it to wouldnt even look at it, so i took one more crack at it. I have connected the clutch master cylinder to the wrong hole. :I im a big kid and the clutch area is kind of hard for me to get to, and it turns out that theres a second hole on the clutch pedal that right below the normal one. I figured this out and addressed the issue, and it felt good as new. thanks for the help guys
