I have an sr20det redtop. Without using the spark plug test, how do I get my motor at top dead center? How do I read the markings correctly? On an sr20det redtop motor, where do the hoses that come off the valve cover go to?

If it is at all possible, plz give me as detailed answers as possible. I will admit it, I do not know a lot about these motors. This is my first Nissan. I'm trying to do it right.

Thank you for your help.

pull the valve cover and rotate the crank till you see the colored links on the chain match up to the two punchmarks on the cam sprockets. When those two are lined up, look at the crank, you'll see the pointer on the front cover pointing to 0 degrees on the crank pulley. The marks on the crank pulley go from -5 to +20 in 5 degree increments.

The hose on the valve cover, there's a T on one side. The hose at the T that goes towards the firewall actually hooks up with a hose to the pipe that's poking out from the block. The other end of the T goes to the intake hose. There's the PCV on the other side of the valve cover and that goes to the intake manifold.
