I'm not 100% positive on this but it could be one of two things most likely.

Bad water pump, or your clutch fan is shot.

A way to test your clutch fan is to get the car up to operating temp and have someone shut off the car. If the fan stays spinning for more than a few seconds, like it's free wheeling, that is good indication your clutch fan is dead. Replacing it is pretty simple, too.

The water pump is more expensive and a little more difficult to change, so I would suggest trying the clutch fan test first and go from there.

Also, if you do change out the water pump and/or the clutch fan, take out your radiator and blow some compressed air through it to clean out the fins and get any of the dead bugs and whatever else in there out.

Hope you get this back to normal.

before you do anything, try bleeding the system.

the bleeder screw is at the beginning of the coolant return hose (the top hose on the rad). it says "never open when hot".

with the engine cold open the bleeder screw, the rad cap, and the resevoir. top off the resevoir with whatever coolant/water mix you prefer. start the car. run it for a few moments, then start filling the rad until coolant comes out the bleeder screw hole. when this happens, you're done. put everything back on and drive the car.

if the problem is still happening, then start looking at other things
