When you replaced the tps, did you backprobe it to check the voltages?

Check the TPS harness connector pins for oxidation.

i put the old tps back on and the car will fire half of the time. but when it does fire it will idle fine but on pressing the acceleration the car will die. could it be tps along with spark plugs or wires??? no it didnt have this problem before i changed it out. and i bought the new tps sensor because i heard it might be what was causing some issues i was having but i fixed the problem and said hey it wouldnt hurt to put the new one in anyway. well i broke the new tps so i just put the old one back in.

ps ive read and read on how to check it. i see the three pins inside the tps but if you read it with engine off and but electronics on then what should reading be? and if its wrong how do you adjust it. the only thing i notice is the two little screw/bolts that attach it to the side of the throttle body. do i tighten or loosen those? if those are the adjustment bolts then which of the two do i turn or do i turn both. if not what do i turn to adjust. thanks.

You have to adjust the tps, since you took it off. Go to http://www.240sx.org and go to the faq section, then to throttle position sensor link.
