I have a 1993 240sx fastback coupe. It starts and runs fine sometimes, but then other times it will just crank and not start. It is like intermittent starting I guess you can say. I checked the clutch pedal position switch and it is intacted, I looked at the transmission and all the connections are still intacted, when I get some time I might try to check the ignition relay and start relay. It runs fine when it does finally start but sometimes it just won't start. Can anybody help?

i suggest you find out if its got fuel and ignition when its acting up. check the sparkplugs, try holding down the gas pedal, etc.

Well the plugs and wires are about a month old, but I haven't changed the distributor cap. I don't know how long it has been since it was changed either. I just brought the car about 2 months ago. How would I check the fuel and spark?

pull one of the fuel hoses off of the fuel filter and crank the engine. if fuel shoots out in a steady stream you are getting good volume. would be a good idea to test the pressure too. for spark you want to be sure there is no fuel spilled in the area. hook up a plug wire to a spark plug and touch the threads of the spark plug to the valve cover or cyl head to give it ground. crank engine and see if the plug is firing.
