i noticed just the other day that when i turn my car off and take the keys out of the ignition that my brake lights and third brake light stay on. I tried lifting the pedal up from the bottom side to see if it was stuck but didn't do much good or i didn't have enough power to affect it. after driving it again i also noticed that it stays on while the car is on as well. so no matter what... unless i remove the battery cable the lights are staying on. is it the pedal stuck or some switch thats jammed. any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you

The little pad is likely broken/missing. Search around and you can find a part number and lots of information about it.

I actually have the same problem and just picked up the parts today, there are two little "pads" that go on the brake pedal that push on the stop lamp switch and the accs switch (cruise control) when the petal is not being pushed, so when they fall out it causes your brake lights to stay on, and if you are missing both your cruise control won't work either, the parts are only like 2 dollars a piece, I was missing both, you may only be missing the brake light one, but I would just change them both, the nissan dealership I got them from had them in stock. sorry I don't have the part number but they should know what you are talking about.

Do a search around here. I know someone has posted the part number before. Just take that to the dealer and they should be able to get it for you, because I'm sure its used in more than just the S chassis.
