It is normal for the center console area to build up alot of heat? If i take out the ashtray holder, the area under there feels hot and aslo the floor around the center console area feels hot.

I've found maybe 1-2 posts on this and most say its probably normal, but there was not alot of repsonses. One said maybe changing the transmission oil will resolve the problem. I changed my transmission oil to redline mt-90 a few months ago. Can it be the exhaust system building alot of heat? I still have the stock exhaust and cat, and the only problem i have is some rattle at higher rpms in lower gears.

It's normal for it to be warm to the touch. It shouldn't be *hot*. Remember your exhaust is close-by too underneith. Some things that may contribute to heat in this area are: transmission overheating(not likely for M/T), a clogged/semi-clogged cat(does it glow? ), lack of heat shields on exhaust components, and exhaust leaks.

I;ve been trying to ignore this problem, but it starts getting annoying when I can feel the heat on my drivers seat. Its not hot, but after i while I can feel the heat on my butt.

Shifting from 1st - 2nd feels like metal to metal contact. Also the shifter vibrates when I try to throw the shifter into position, or a big clank sound when I shift into it fast. I read another post saying maybet air in the clutch system or maybe low transmission fuild. Maybe this is all related. i'll have to look into this when I have time to get under there.
