I am having this problem with my nissan 240sx 1993. It will crank but it will not turn over. I checked the plugs and wires, both seem fine, the alternator is getting proper voltage and the battery is at proper voltage 12.85v, but it just does not seem to want to start. I might try to check the fuel filter if I have some time but when I took the spark plugs out it seemed like there was fuel on them. I am not too sure what the problem may be but I think it might be something with an overheating problem. Yesterday my water pump had smoke coming out of it. Any suggestions please help. And is there anyway the clutch could have something to do with it.

Have you checked the fuel pump? Try turning your car into ACC without actually turning over the engine, you should hear a small whirring noise from the rear of your car. If not it may be your fuel pump that's gone. Happened to me, pretty cheap to repair.
