The factory size is 4x6 in front and 6 3/4 round in the rear. Here is a good link to Crutchfield, which will provide you with much more info:

First are we talking about Vert or Coupe/Hatch?

Second where did this 6 3/4 rear speaker come from? Thought coupe/hatch was 4x6 all around (or 5x7 in rear) and Vert is 5 1/4 in rear. Think Crutchfield is wrong.

Here's the vert's rear speaker area, with a 5 1/4 in it. No way a 6+ round is gonna fit without modification.

I fit 6.5s in front, didn't try the rear. But the stock was 5 1/4 rear. Pretty sure the hatch/coupe rear is 4x6 stock, but its been a long time since I've seen the stock speakers on one.

4x6 in front, my vert does use 6 1/2 in the back. I like to use MB Quart speakers. they sound great and handle lots of power. I bought 6 1/2 speaker adapters on ebay for the front ($8 shipped). you need to remove the plastic speaker housing from the door and bolt in the adapter. Then you can put 6 1/2's in the doors too. I also used speaker baffles in the rear to get a much improved sound quality. any speaker you put in the rear will sound bad because they don't seal well.

6 3/4 " for the rears of any vert will fit... that pic above was a 5 1/4 barely in there....look at the holes that are just outside where the screws are for the speaker in there...i promise they will fit. and 4X 6 up front.. and crutchfield is by far the best place to buy anything for audio equipment for your car!

it really depends on what companys speaker you use. the speaker size is from 6.5-6 3/4" some speaker companys size there speakers a little differently. ie. i've used 6 3/4 pioneer speakers (junk) and 6.5" rockford fosgates in the same hole.

i'm currently working on re doing a 92 240 convertible i just got. i built these..

i do audio for a living. if anyone needs something custom let me know.

Check out that picture that the person posted of the back seats with the panel removed. thats the problem I ran into when putting in my 6x9s. It sucks because the back speakers are not only really small, but the metal bracket that support the speakers are DESIGNED to only hold one size speaker. And when I say size I mean diameter and depth. Youll find that the metal bracket isnt just a flat piece that has a hole cut in it, but there is like a cage that houses the back of the speaker.

Yes, 6x9s are gonna be near impossible to put in the back.

Fitty 543, Here is a link to 6 1/2 front speaker adaptors on e-bay. I thought that I might give them a try. I remember reading a post about these adaptors with some pos.feedback, but not sure where that post is. Good luck with that project.

hatches are 4x6 all around. it is possible to put 6.5" in the front doors with a mounting bracket sold on eBay.

Fronts are definately 4x6

Rears may be 6 3/4, but looked smaller to me (maybe 5 1/4).

You might as well replace both sides with equal speakers, instead of trying to do just the right side.

I think he meant "right" to be a synonym to "correct". not as in right and left.

(i hope)
