1993 - 1994 Q45 Tail Lights

I have read on older posts about swapping 93 tail lights for the 94 ones. An error message comes on about inoperative lights. Is it true that I also need to replace the 1993 tail light module for the 1994? Where is it located and where can I buy one (other than the dealer of course!)

Swapping the lights shouldn't matter, to my knowledge the light fixture isn't any different the exterior is just different..

You'll want the center piece as well otherwise it will look stupid, if you don't already know that...

No, definately are different. The 93 has two bY brake bulbs, the 94 only has one.

You are correct that the light modules are different. (Sorry Wes) The 90-93 has 3 bulbs, 2 of which are dual filament. The 94-96 has 2 bulbs and only one is dual filament. They may not be interchangeable between years since it looks like they have different locking tabs. I'm not sure that the lens assemblies are interchangeable without looking misfit since the 94-96 is about a half inch taller than the 90-93.

The brake lamp sensors from 90-96 all have the same connector but as you've found out with the error message it needs to match the brake light module. The sensor is located in the trunk (not the trunk lid) behind a trim piece under the trunk lock. Look for a seller in the parts forum parting out their Q.

You are 100% correct. I changed my 93 entire lenses to the 94 - they have an added chrome trim that looks nicer. The bezels are also
from a 94 as the 93's do not fit unless you modify (cut) them and mask tape them to the lenses. The error message is distracting,
so if I can replace the module, I should be OK. Thanks and perfect pic - you know your stuff.
