Here's the deal, While driving in the snow, I thought I was spinning he tires, Turns out the transmission filter was clogged and had no fluid going through the system. I changed the filter and fluid and now it has another issue. It takes about 3 seconds to engage into 1st. If I am at a stop sign with my foot on the brake, you can feel it lurch forward after a coule of second when it engages. If I don't come to a complete stop( slowing around a corner) when it should down shift to first, it slips and then engages hard into first gear. I reviewed other forums and none seemed to answer it completely. I don't want to spend $125 for the high temp flush if it is another problem.

I like my 68 mustang fastback, less problems but more gas.

Whenever YOU abuse a transmission [by not changing ATF and filter frequently*] you get to learn an expensive lesson.

The starvation from the blocked/reduced flow wore things out, the only effective solution is unit replacement.

* experience on the larger stronger versions has show that every two years [30k] is about right..........I perform extensive annual maintenance [about $200 worth] on my larger RE4R03A because replacement cost is $2,800.

You pay as you go or sooner all at once and more!

We always recommend a chemical flush and ATF exchange to allow the owner to get the money together for replacement.......I credit them the $129 if they get a replacement transmission installed by us in the next 90 days. Many times the flush buys them 6 months or longer.
