Well today I took my friend to the airfield that we have in Brooklyn. It is a recreational center and it is wide open space. As we were approaching the airfield I could feel the tension. Afterall this was my former T-bird I was going against and I knew with the mods it was pretty fast.

As soon as you enter the airfield and make a left you enter a two lane stretch that is just perfect for a drag. I tell me friend "when ever your ready" and I shift into 1 preparing myself. Well when he hit his car all you could hear was the exhaust but all you could see was this big black car haulin ***. The Q hit 125 almost 130 at redline in 3rd gear. I was amazed at what this car could do. My friend was now embarrased as he didnt expect this big 4 door foreign car to take off like that.

So then we go at it from a rolling start of 30MPH. I downshift to 2 and floor it. The Q lurched forward with so much torque that it fishtailed a little. Then it straigtened up and took of again. When we reached the end my friend just pulled up and said "there was nothing I could do about it." He tried to manually shift, double pump the gas anything he could think of.

The Q get's up to 120 very quick and very easily. What was real amazing is that I know my car is not 100% but it didnt show at the airfield. No hesitation, no miss just power as soon as it hit about 2300 - 2500 rpm.

Then as another shocker at one point I almost had the pedal floored and I noticed if you push it that little extra bit you can actually feel it pick up more. Unbelievable, a car doing 5500 rpm and still having kick left.

My friend with the T-bird had no chance. The Q took off on him a total of 6 times. Each was consistent. The Q felt very stable with no shaking at all. I felt very much in control the whole time.

*NOW SO EVERYONE UNDERSTANDS. THIS WAS IN AN OPEN AIRFIELD WITH NO OTHER VEHICLES OR PEDESTRIANS IN THE AREA. I DONOT CONDONE STREET RACING AS THAT IS DANGEROUS. WE ARE BOTH FULLY INSURED DRIVERS WHO KNEW THE RISKS. IT WAS JUST A HOVERING QUESTION OF THE PERFORMANCE OF THE Q.*

The Q more than prevailed and left my friend saying "that is not a sleeper, that is a nightmare on the road."

Now you know how I felt when I never lost an inch to any E36 M3 I raced. Or when this guy in a later 90s model droptop SVT Cobra couldnt believe when I pulled on him on the freeway

Thats why I defend this cars performance, it's FAST on the freeway. Compared to cars of its time it's very fast

Yeah the Q is serious on the road. People do not know the true power of it.

I seen these cars all around before and thought, whatever…

All I did was drive a Q for about 3m, some on the freeway. I was almost going to miss the off ramp and there was lots of traffic I push the gas it down shifts and boom I was at my ramp. I felt like if I wanted to I could rule the road in this car! That was it I had to find a way to make it mine. Well I got it!

I don’t care what it takes to keep this ride on the road it’s worth it! Enjoy !

Well, I would be willing to bet the SVT Cobra I passed on the freeway, or the countless m3s, or all the modded out rice boxes I punished, would probably consider my car fast, since I beat their "fast" cars

You don't even own one.

One thing is for sure, your two cars sure arn't fast

After many other cars start wheezing after the 1/8, the Q keeps pulling.

The Qs time is on the freeway, above 60

Automobile magazine called the car quick with 318hp, and said it was superior to yet another "fast" car, the 500E

I guess that isnt fast either

Put it this way

Take a look at a WRX 1/4 mile

It has the same trap as a stock first gen Q. Yet the 0-60 and 1/4 are about a second quicker

So yea the Q is slow in terms of 0-60 and 1/4 mile times, but if you stomp it on the freeway, that Q will have no problems with yet another FAST car, the WRX

Yeah the Q will suprise most cars on the road today.

Especially when they find out what year it is

This is the truest statement I've seen in a long time concerning the abilities of a G50. Compared against he 215 hp 5.0 HO 'Stangs and such of the day, the Q is quite a player.

However, technology has come a long way in 15 years. You can get a V6 Maxima or Altima with what now, 255hp? Of course you'll pay over 5 times as much for the new car which makes the Q a very good value.

People hear me mention I drive a Q45 and assume I have cash coming out of my ears, it's funny that even with maintenance costs I'm paying less than they are for their V6 F-150.

What surprises me is how you didn't get arrested racing @ 120mph @ Floyd Bennett. I don't mean to be a jerk (it just comes out this way sometimes), but Floyd Bennett is not a good place to race. Crossroads, student drivers, and a police station right there. If you really need to get it out of your system, go to E-Town, or use the *cough* NJ Turnpike *cough*. You didn't hear that from me;)

The cops weren't hiding in the bushes today. They are usually there towards the weekend. I went at about 3:30 so there were no student drivers just parked cars at the end by the water. We were closer to where they fly the RC planes. By the way at one point i hit 125 almost 130 and the Q felt beautiful.

So true

V6 6 speed honda accord coupes, Vq line of nissans, and other cars have caught up in a big way

Now you need the extra power from the JWT etc, to keep up and pass them

I was shocked with the accourd coupe ran all over my 94.. then I looked at the 1/4

14.@98 thats FAST

But hell in 1990 there wasnt much that could touch the Q on the freeway, the 300zx was the only JDM sports car of its time out at that point, the mustangs supras etc no way
