Hello everyone.
I read a lot of threads about that problem and still not sure where to start with mine. I drive my Q for 2 years with those lights ON and got used to NO TCS while driving (I think in my case I would have TCS OFF anyway while driving). The only tuff time to drive is in winter with lots of snow like this year (in Toronto, Canada).

So, the traction control system actually works perfect IF used withing first 20 seconds after startup. For example - I park my car on a hill, turn it off, then start it again and accelerate - the SLIP light goes ON, Traction Control System starts working and the car goes on top of the hill no problem.

If I start the car and just stand, the SLIP and TCS OFF lights turn ON simultaneously and I have no traction control.
I even made a hardcore test of it, by parking a car at the hill in a bunch of snow, so it won't move forward much even with working TCS. The result as follows - I start the car and TCS attempts to move the car through the snow forward. I spend like 10 minutes like that and move one foot forward, after I stoped - both lights turned on. So the TCS works fine, its something that turns it off after 15-20 seconds of being unactive.

I bought the car like that for a very low price, so it didn't bother me. But I want to fix it now knowing that its not the TCS problem.

I guess I should start by getting the CODEs, but maybe someone else have better ideas on where to start.

P.S. the ANTILOCK is on, but this one is separate problem - I just need to replace that little black box that was buzzing and drained my battery once. After it stoped buzzing, it worked for a while, and then gone dead (I assume).

Thanks

This may not be the solution to your problem at all but since my issue falls in a similar realm, I figured I'd post. I also had the constant TCS OFF and SLIP lights staying on nearly all the time. After changing my fuel filter today, the lights went off and never came back on...for good. Weird.

That is interesting!
I also forgot to mention that my Q was hit (before I bought it) by the other car at front right wheel, because of that still need to change control arm (the wheel is slightly angled), the "brake pads worn" shows on the screen cause the detector is torn off on that wheel. Maybe that somehow has to do with it.

My fuel pump is kind of noisy, but I can see it was changed at one point before I got it. The guy who sold it to me actually roadside dealer. He probably got it for hundreds of dollars, replaced the brake pads, put in brand new alternator (maybe was trying to fix TCS problem??) for 600 (I had the bill in glove compartment). And I just felt in love with the car right away when I saw it. Bought it as is without checking and actually was lucky - it is well worth it!

getting a simular problem on my mothers 1996 q45, there is a buzz/whine for about 1 min when the car starts coming from the passenger side, then it stops. Thats the fuel pump making that noise?

and yes the TCS and SLIP lights are constantly on. did you ever fix the problem?

You have been driving your car FOR 2 YEARS with a bent control arm and angled wheel???????? I would think this is the first major problem to fix! Then worry about the rest of the issues!
