My 1992 Q's AC is making a clicking sound. Has been for a year or two. Got Freon last year after 13 years of never having the unit charged. Now it's blowing unless it's cool outside and I'm driving slow.

I'm in L.A. Is it worth me to bring it to Jerry Tucker in San Diego or is there a good referral in the L.A. area. I don't mind the dirve if it is woth it.

Also:1) anyone venture a guess what's wrong?2) do I go original or updated freon?3) rebuilt or new compressor if necessary? Intend to keep 5 more years.

Thanks

Doug

When I bought my Q the A/C was blowing hot air so I took it to a repair shop. The only problem was the $20 blue relay in the engine compartment fuse box. Maybe you'll be so lucky. You can easily check this yourself by swapping with the blue cruise control relay next to it and see if your AC works and your cruise doesn't.

All the other things you mentioned could also be causing your problem. I know little about AC systems but I'm sure some of the experts will post up some advice. One of our members, Falk, is a neighbor of yours and should be able to tell you a good AC shop in the South Bay without having to drive to San Diego.

BTW- I grew up in Manhattan Beach and then Redondo Beach on Perry Ave. Great area to visit.

Good luck.
