I really hate to say this, but it sounds as it you have a blown head gasket. Check your oil and see if you have a milky solution on the dip stick. Also check your coolant and see it if looks as if oil is in it. The white smoke is caused by it having water in the combustion chamber. Also pull the valve cover and check to see if you have a milky white solution on your under side of your valve cover.

The loss of power is caused by low compression since you don't have a good seal between your cylinder head and block.

Sounds like your battery is also low. Either from excessive cranking or your alternator is not charging it properly (or your battery is going bad).

Good point, I'm so embarrassed I overlooked the:

My car is being an ***

wont turn over

It's probably due to excessive cranking, if by turning over you mean the engine not doing ANYTHING when you try to start it. If you mean that it's powering the starter, but hesitating to start, once again this is another symptom of a chewed head gasket.

He has multiple issues, probably with one causing the other. Then again he may actually have two problems from a cranking perspective.

hello i'm new to the forums, and i'm having a similar problem when I'm at a stop light. This is very helpful information. I don't think i should spend the money on a new engine. Now all i have to do is fine a how to on installing a head gasket.
