I have a 1992 Nissan 240SX SE Convertible that is in good condition. However, the rims are original and seem to consist of a metal covering rather than a solid metal piece and are de-laminating. It takes away from the apperance. I don't think I can fasten the metal plates back to the base. Is there any type of glue that I could use to mount it back to the rim? Or I might have to purchase a completely new set of rims.

Alright, this is going to sound a little silly but I am new to the site and actually new to forums in general. So, I don't really know how to include a picture from my computer documents into a post. I am sure it is easy, I tried clicking the Insert image button that I see here but it didn't work.

Thanks for the info.! I am proud that I learned how to post pictures. That was pretty easy. Alright here are pictures where you can view the rims. To explain, what you see is not a solid piece of metal. You are viewing what is actually a metal sheet mounted onto the rim. The metal you see is starting to peel back. It is minor, you really cannot begin to tell until you view up close. You cannot tell in the photo either. I was just wondering if I could repair it, I don't want it to get worse and take away from the look of the car.

you could send them off and have them reconditioned , but honestly for the same price you could probably get a set of aftermarket wheels that you like, in my opinion that would be a better choice unless you REALLY want to keep the car all original

btw clean car.......mmmmmmmmmm leather interior

Oh thank you! Yes I like having leather, it looks nice. To be honest though, my leather is a little worn in the front seats. But I still like having it You are right, I probably just need to invest in a new set. I found a pair on craigslist that were pretty nice for only $75.oo for all four! Sadly I found out they were already gone when I went to buy them. Oh well, more good deals will come. They always do. I have faith.

Off topic but, white leather was an option on verts? I never knew that.

And rims for $75? Are they oem 240 rims?

The ad I saw on craigslist said the rims came from a 240SX.

Yeah, oh dear is right. When I purchased the car I thought it was a solid piece. Surprise surprise. I think the only option is replacement.

Yes. They need replacement. I am wondering if I can use some type of adhesive in the meantime, but I don't know of any product strong enough to keep metal held back. I would most likely have to keep a clamp held to it while the product, if there is such a thing, was drying.

Sorry I don't know of any adhesives that would work for what you want. But, you don't have to replace the wheels. Just strip the chrome off and have them rechromed if you like that look.
