Hoping anyone with mechanical experience can help.

I just had some bodywork and painting done on my car. As I drove home from the shop, I started to notice that the car did not accelerate as usual. I would floor the gas pedal, but the acceleration did not respond as usual and can be described as being "sluggish or lazy". I decided to park the car and would take it to the mechanic the next day. However, the next day the acceleration was back to normal. A slight press of the gas pedal, and the acceleration would immediately kick in. What may be the cause of the problem? Is this a warning sign for a larger problem to come?

Any advise would be helpful and appreciated.

Thank you!

Maybe some body shop dust got into the airflow meter and messed it up for a minute. I've never really heard of that but, anything is possible. Try checking the air filter and Mass Air Flow sensor. Be sure that the filter you do have in there is oiled to some degree. Nissan filters are oiled from the factory but cheap aftermarket ones aren't. And it's often the lack of oil that lets fine particles through which is not good for MAFs.

airflow meter= Mass Air Flow sensor= MAF= different names for the same thing

Hey Carmo,

Thanks for the promt reply. I looked into the air filter and it was definately dirty! I just changed the filter, got a tune-up, and she's running smooth again. Your time and response was much appreciated.

Thanks again!

Could just be the reset ECU. I am sure they probably unhooked the battery when they worked on it and perhaps the car needed a while to relearn.
