Has anyone owning a 3rd Generation Nissan Maxima ever encounter a problem with the engine purging and rocking the vehicle back & forth at high speeds wanting to stall out like it wasn't getting any fuel ?
The first time this occurred was back in 2005, it ended up being the " Fuel Pump" ever since then, the problem would return with the same symptoms and wouldn't you know,.......another "fuel Pump would be acting up. This has happened (4) times since then, and more recently this month on July 3rd and I only have driven the vehicle 400 miles. I had installed a High Quality fuel pump this time " Bosch" I swore this was going to last longer, or it just may be something else or something causing the fuel pumps to malfunction. Can anyone help me on this issue or else, what I can check. I know for certain that the last fuel pump was completely dead. How did I know ? :gotme I disconnected the fuel line from the fuel filter turned the ignition to the "ON" position,....and nothing, no sound from the fuel pump and no fuel. My Son has a feeling that it could be an electrical issue with the fuel pump but who knows. Would really appreciate some feedback on this. Thanks

The thing is that when this problem starts to occur I can turn the engine off and pull over for about 5 minutes and the problem clears itself. If it's not the "Fuel Pump" what then do you suggest it could be ? The last time this happened, the problem stayed "Dark" for 3 years, then it serviced again. Ask some of you friends what the problem could possibly be. And thanks for responding.

Hey THANKS again for replying to my problem. However I do have a " Consult" cable, but I have issues downloading the "software" to my PC. I really appreciate your "Feedback" Man, but I truly believe it has something to do with the "Fuel Pump Relay" ( The Green one, in the trunk next to the left turn signal ) I already ordered one from APW ( Auto Parts Warehouse) and I'm going to take a " Crack" at it. As for your recommendation regarding the "Knock Sensor" when I found the location of that device I said to myself; NO WAY!!!! That son -of--a gun is a pain to try and get to. To bad I don't live nearby to you, Alabama is a pretty good foot from where you live. Right now the car is running great, I'll keep posted on my progress and thanks again. Mr. Elusivemax

I've done 2 Knock sensors on both my maxima's my 92 and my 93. it gets to become second nature once you have done it a time or two.

Yes the intake manifold. Once you have done it a time or two you remember all the bolts and what not. It becomes easy. That or I'm just weird lol

I changed out that " Fuel Pump Relay" Located in the trunk. So far I've noticed no problems. The real test will come when I take it on a long trip, maybe to Atlanta. We'll keep you informed. :wavey:
