Hey guys,

I have a 92 Maxima (not SE) with 76k miles on it. Just recently I started getting a fuel smell coming from the exhaust, not too strong but noticeable. Also, my gas mileage isn't amazing, and the exhaust note sounds a little odd (not smooth).

Does this sound like fuel injectors?

I've just started having a similar problem - though on our '97. And fuel smell is in passenger compartment!

Car has also become - occasionally - hard to start, and Her Wifeliness is getting antsy... All this has started recently, and in conjunction with our dropping temperatures. CEL is not on at the moment, thought it comes and goes - the code is for the knock sensor.

Hope to get under the hood this weekend - meanwhile, what re things to look for? Certainly all fuel lines and junctions should be suspect - this car is 120k or so. But are the injector seals a standard maintenance item? Do I have a risk of a Big Item being bad here, even without the CEL?

( I'm trying to sort through the various causes for these symptoms, given that I'm not seeing a CEL... )

PS - Yes, t.mcginley.jr: your issue sounds like an injector to me.
