Well...

As it turns out the transmission shifts fine afterall! Thanks for your advice. However...the new problem that appeared now is the car is running absolutely terrible! It is misfiring badly and pinging and appears to be running on 6 cylinders. I don't smell any raw fuel. I haven't checked the plugs yet but I am suspecting that the shop that did the transmission installation accidentally broke, bumped or overlooked correctly timing one of the sensors that control ignition spark timing(?) Does anyone have an idea as to what could cause this scenario considering the recent transmission install and the fact that the car ran fine just prior to this? As always...any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks!

I can't think of anything related to the transmission that should have anything to do with the engine running well. Do the usual "wiggle" the connectors for the MAF, CAS, etc - but I suspect you're having an unrelated injector failure (which should only make the engine bounce but not really ping) or even worse the timing slipped a tooth or two from bad guides. Is the engine backfiring and running really poorly? That's what happend when my guides failed. :(

It's definitely sounds like it has a couple dead cylinders/incorrect timing...no backfiring however...and no smoking, but slight pinging is evident only when accelerating. Tach stays smooth but occassionally stalls at idle with trans in "D." If it did jump a tooth due to bad guides, it would run rough like it is but instead, wouldn't it retard and not advance? Since it's pinging, I suspect one of the sensors is out of synch and causing improper ignition timing. The battery had been discharged for some time and so now...no trouble codes are stored. Will a code become stored again if driven enough? Isn't there an official procedure for getting a trouble code to re-cycle?

Why don't you get theis over to AZhitman's preferred shop and get it fixed? Guessing and driving a car in this state is the sure road to ruin. Have it towed or flatbedded.

I tried searching and I wasn't able to find it on the site. What's the best shop around Phoenix, AZ?

PM him! Oh wait, the Board won't allow that!

Try an email. He never has posted the complete contact information. Might be EuroMotors.

Well...I've decided to sell the car. I bit off more than I can handle! I was told it's the injectors. Anyone interested? The link is below:http://phoenix.craigslist.org/car/39073630.html.
