hi, I own a 1992 2.4l 4x4 Hardbody that is really sluggish even after the basic tune-up. When I have the AC running the is a HUGE power drain, but even with it off it still is not very powerful. It seems like I should be getting better gas mileage than I do. Does anybody have some recomendations on how I can make more power with a KA24E?Living in Arizona the AC is a must! I also notice when its on, it makes a belt or bearing noise at low rpm. It goes away at high rpm or after running with it on for awhile. Is this something I need to worry about? Thanks

I don't know what CEL means. I Changed the fluids, filters, plugs, dist cap and rotor about 4 months ago. I know its a small motor but it seems like it should have more pep. I think the air/fuel mix is off. Is there an adjustment I can make to the MPI fuel injection?

LOL....no, about the same. I didnt screw anything up speaking of screws, there is an adjuster on the front of the throttle body that is so loose it seems to be just sitting in there. is that normal or should the o-ring seal be replaced. could that be why I get lousy gas mileage?

Not sure what screw you mean....can you post a pic?

You might want to try doing a seafoam treatment to the truck to clean out all the carbon deposits in the engine.

I'd start with a compression check. This is fundamental to performance and if compression isnt high, nothing else you do to it makes any difference. I'd want to know if the compression is high enough on this truck or not. If it is, then i'd go from there, on to troubleshooting the fuel injectors, camshaft wear, slipping clutch or bad transmission (automatic), ignition system problem etc.

I had similar problem in mine. Did a complete tune-up and still seemed like I had lost the power. It turned out to be the fuel filter. This was at about 100k miles on it.
