So the Q45a that I have was molested by it's previous owners (too bad I hadn't known what I was getting into...). The mechanic asked her to show him on the bear where she was touched and it turns out the active suspension has been deleted (was his term). It looks like who ever monkeyed with it just sort of cut lines where ever they felt it dealt with the suspension and put some sort of replacement in.It's on the list of things to fix, but what I'm looking at fixing now is the power-steering pump. This pump is not the typical pump that is on a regular Q (I know, I looked at 5 different 1st gens and 1 95). The system we have takes a 7 ribbed belt to run. All the other onces take a 5 ribbed belt. That and the pump in the car is very much bigger than the pump that was pulled from the junk yard. I was told to swap the pulleys and call it good but it's looking like the pump controlled the active suspension, and because it is bigger, the smaller one might not fit the housing. The questions:Where can I find a power steering pump for less than $300 (this is at cost through my mechanic)?Because the suspension is torn to bits, what will I need to do to the pump to make sure that it, at the very least, gives me power steering?I had thought about making the smaller pump work, but I don't want to cause this car to have any more problems later down the road than it already will. I am aware of the timing guide issue, have been on Q45.org for more info, and will be having my mechanic look to see if this has been addressed. For now I am collecting information and looking at where to get parts. She is worth fixing in my opinion and I understand that it will be costing me a lot of money. I also understand that it will be worth every penny when it's all done. [IMG][/IMG]
