I really need some therapy on this. I have a real aversion to changing anything on my car from the original stock.

I want to buy a Nissan manufacutred new compreossor that uses R 12. Someone who is an expert please tell me this is okay.

It's $600 for the part.

I plan to keep the car 5 more years, about 50,000 miles. I was very pleased the original lasted 13 years before it ever needed recharging.

Finally, any tips I should give the mechanic?

Thanks.

p.s. to Drew 45 thanks for your previous response. It's just not my comfort zone!

Not. Go with R12 and get the flex hoses replaced.

I have a 1990 Q, and it came with a R134a setup already in the car

It will work best with R12, but if you had an explosion or internal contamination and you have to replace all components, you might consider the full R134a conversion. Otherwise, not worth the reduced efficiency.

Don't mix and match. Go all one way or the other.
