I recently got a good deal on a 1992 300zx. I have been investigating why it doesnt start. I threw a new battery in and got it running on starter fluid. I have a couple questions about the fuel system itself. (BTW Ive read the stickies, and have tried searching)
1. The car has no fuel pressure before or after the filter. I found the fuel pump relay, which is under the drivers side kick panel (right?)
2. When I turn the key, I dont hear the fuel pump, but i hear a clicking noise coming from what looks like some kind of brake thing. It got a little warm, so I dont know if this is fuel related, or what this thing even is? It looks expensive though. It is a 2+0, so its under the opposite panel that the headlight adjustment tools are. Could this relate to my problem?
3. Since the N/A has a fuel pump controller, and i know that this pump has two speeds, what is the best way to test and see if the pump is getting power? I imagine a multimeter or possibly test light hooked up to the leads would work, but I dont know which are which
4. If I do have to change the pump, is there a way the TT pump will work with the NA computer for now? I have plans for bigger power down the road, and may not be using fuel pump controller at all
5. Are there any fuel pump fuses/relays under the hood? I read that there were, but I didnt see any.
6. Thanks for any help, I just want to be able to try a few different things next time I have a chance to work on it
7. Here is a pic of the car as it has sat for the last 4 years. I delivered to this house a few times and it killed me to see it sitting. I inquired about it, and she was willing to sell it for pretty darn cheap
