Car just refused to start on my lunch break the other day. After about 15 minutes, it finally sputtered to life. After work, started fine. Next day on lunch, same thing happened. Today, it won't start at all.It is cranking fine, just not starting. I tested plug wires and they are fine. Spark to the distributor is fine as well.

I changed the fuel filter, Coil, ignition module. Fuel is fine, lines are pressured so I don't think it is a fuel problem. Cap & rotor maybe? Plugs?

I am out of ideas other than that and I don't have money right now to throw at it until I find the problem. Anybody have any pretty solid ideas of the possible cause?

How old are the plugs? If they've got 15,000 mi on them, time for a change. Make sure air filter is clean.

After all of this, if the car still doesn't start, do an ECU code readout to see if any fault codes have been set which may help you to better diagnose the problem.

I changed the plugs and cap/rotor today and still no luck. Could the O2 sensor cause any of my problems? MAFS?

How do I check the codes?

And also, thank you guys for the help. I just started my weekend and I have to get this fixed before I go back to work.

** RESOLVED **Got in to check the brain and it kicked back a Coolant Temp Sensor code. I found the sensor and pulled it. It looked fine so I checked the wires and the connectors were corroded as heck.

I scraped the connections and cleaned them, plugged them back in and it magically has started working again.

Thanks for your help!

wow, i didn't know that would cause the car to not start... learn something new everytime...

i know if it's not reading a signal, it'll stay in "open loop mode"... just running from the pre-programmed baseline curve w/in the ECU, thus running extremely rich--> correctomondo?

Yeah that little bastard is quite overlooked and when in reference to Nissan engines they are quite problematic.

Coolant Temp Sensor = TH3 Suxor!
