car runs great, shifts smoothly, until about 58 or so, and then if i'm cruising along the rpms seem to drop a bit and the car seems to down shift until i accelerate a bit and it gets to about 63 or so and it runs perfectly smooth...only appears to happen in O.D....(this is an automatic)...don't really like to drive at high speeds for extended time without overdrive, but this is annoying...has new wires and plugs...transmission fluid level is fine...could it have anything to do with fuel delivery/filter or fuel injectors...or is this a sad transmission story???? has not ever been "beat" and has 120,000 miles on it at present....any suggestions to a girl who loves her convertible?????(besides the obvious, switch to manual)

Just reading your post it sounds like normal lock up operation. once you are in over drive and are below a specific TPS voltage the torq convertor will go into lock up and the rpms will drop a bit since there is no longer any slip in the convertor.

Now if you are trying to say it seems to be bouncing in and out of lock up you may have a TPS out of adjustment.

Never did it before so seemed strange..no lights on the dash, so didn't expect it would be the tps....BUT... had just replaced spark plugs...supposedly pregapped....Well, i pulled them back out and two were at about .038, and two were almost .045...i adjusted them all to about .042, and reinstalled...(think spec is .039-.043)....problem is gone.....
