my plastic tank is cracked and it cracked under normal driving conditions. prolly around 3,00 rpm or so.
all the coolant is steaming out and the car doesnt over heat as long as i keep coolant in the rad.
when i first got the car it had barely any coolant in the rad and overheated after that i put coolant in it and it lasted about a month till it overheated again and when it did i put coolant in the rad and i didnt notice a crack but noticed that it was loosing coolant. the crack formerd later and so ive put off driving it.
what could cause the plastic tank to crack? the car runs fine when its not over heating, I heard somewhere that a head gasket leak can cause extra pressure in the radiator and cause it to crack.
I plan on getting a new All aluminum rad and a thermostat. could the thermostat be damaged even though it keeps my engine cool when the coolant is in their. (it stays just barely below the half way mark)
i plan on doing the s13 sr20 swap but id have to get the car to the shop and the closest one is three hours away not to mention this is my daily and i wasnt prepared to swap the sr in.
