1992 240sx manual transmission problem

can someone help me determine the problem so i can figure out how much its going to cost before i take it to the mechanic. heres what is going with the transmission.

it goes into 1st gear fine but when i try to go into 2nd from first gear it will grind but i can still shift it and it would stay in place. 3rd, 4th, and reverse is fine, as for the 5th gear i have to told it into place just to drive it won't stay shifted.

thats pretty much the problem sorry i tried my best to describe whats going on any help would be great thanks.

1st gear doesn't have a synchro, so unless you rev match first, it will grind unless you come to a complete stop or close to one.

The 1st/2nd gear synchronizer is most likely worn. The 5th gear synchronizer may also be worn or else the shift forks may be worn.
