1992 240sx automatic

my distributor was soaked with coolant recently.

started causing misfires. replaced cap, rotor, wires, and plugs. everything but the distributor itself

solved problem for a while

got stuck with misfires 10 miles from home. in desparation, took rotor off and sprayed with electric contact cleaner.

works fine now, still feels a little weak

my questions are...

can i tear it down and clean it sufficently?

should I source a new one?

I'm not 100% sure about cleaning it. You can try but I would be very cautious due to all the electrical that is in there. You may be better off finding a replacement. Has it ever been replaced?

I don't believe it has been replaced. It hasn't missed a beat since I sprayed it. After doing some more research I found that you can actually tear a distributor down. I'll do it if I start having more problems. So far so good though.
