[edit #2] Renamed thread title, maybe it will help make this is a little clearer.

Was out for a drive earlier this week and couldnt select any gears. I had to get it towed home.

The only time gears can be selected is with the engine off. I can row through the gears normally here, so I would like to rule out shift forks and transmission internals. If the car is on, OR if the car is rolling (even with engine off), cant shift to anything. If a gear is selected and clutch disengaged, the car cannot be pushed.

I removed the dampener and bled the system. I also replaced the slave cylinder after this did not work. I can see the slave visibly operating the clutch fork when my friend presses the pedal. The fork is not loose or anything, so I dont *believe* it to be broken.

[edit] stock everything... clutch, shifter etc. Unknown miles on clutch but I bought the car @ 177k and previous owner doesnt know when the clutch was replaced (he bought it around 50k IIRC)

whats up man, i just read your email. unfortunately i sold my KA with transmission 2 years ago so i dont think i could help much. if your clutch disc hasnt been changed in that long of time i would probably look inside there and check it out, since you checked everything else out and everything externally seems good. which means dropping the transmission

maybe someone else with more experience can help you, i dont really know much about transmissions and such. good luck!

Hey man, I forgot you had an RB build planned haha. I'm hoping I dont have to drop the transmission to replace either the clutch fork or the pivot (an $8 bolt), because that would really suck....

After I fix this, I still have to get the car smogged..... thats gonna be fun, an out of state car thats never had an emissions check in 206k going through CA emissions.

One thing at a time though. Someone please tell me that it's not the fork or the pivot.

I'm having the exact same problem, I tried starting it while it was in gear and the starter rolled the car forward so the clutch is obviously not disengaging, I'm just going to drop the transmission and find out whats going on because I dont have time to wait for someone on here to tell me something other than to bleed the line.

In my other thread, NISTECH suggested a failure in the MC and/or some really stubborn air. In fairness I havent replaced the MC, but thats because I can see the clutch slave working properly when someone presses the clutch pedal while I am under there.

I'm gonna try and bench bleed it and install it, but by the time i've been getting home from work (hitching rides with others no less) its too damned dark!

I feel really stupid now, I have a bad feeling this was caused by pop starting the car, cause my starter died 2 days before this.... Somehow I see this ending with me dropping the transmission, throwing on an exedy oem clutch kit and fixing the rear main seal lol... and this problem will prolly be the fork that slipped off the TO bearing.
