First off, I recently aquired an additional 240sx. This one happened to have a KA24DE swap. The guy before me happened to have alternator issues so he switched it out. I keep snapping the 75amp ALT fuse though. Ive tried a few things, what I really think I need is a wiring diagram but I cant find one. The harness to the alternator has two ground cords, one I have hooked to the alternator and the other was just floating when I got the car. I touched the extra to the alternator and it sparked and we lost the fuse. Any ideas where that extra ground cord should be? Or maybe its wired wrong and the ground is getting current from somewhere else?

one is a ground the other is power. its usually run through the instrument cluster so you can get a charge light if the voltage drops below 13.0. you should be okay if you just run it to power.

Well I have it charging the battery but that 1 cord, I guess the 'power' one is just floating, where should I connect it? Heres a pic if you want

there should be a threaded post with a plastic thing on the end of it (on the back of the alternator). You put that connector on the post and tighten a nut down on it.

Most cars have a dedicated sense line from the battery to the alternator. If that line is bad or is intermittent it will send the alternator operating with higher voltage levels and could potentially kill a number of things. That is probably why the fuse keeps burning out.
