hey guys, i have a couple issues with my 240sx coupe...but the main one bugging me now is my parking lights are staying on ONLY WHEN i unplug fuse number 18 under the dash....there has to be no fuse there...if i put a fuse in, then they stay on no matter what unless of course i unplug the battery...

when the fuse is out everything seemingly works fine but im not 100 percent sure on that as i got the car, drove it around the block a couple times, then tore the motor out to rebuild for ka-t...motor is almost done now and i need to get the wiring squared away...

i know this has to be a common problem because a few years ago a buddy of mine had a coupe that the brake lights completely stopped working on...

if anyone has any experience or know-how please feel free to share! i would greatly appreciate it!!

thanks in advance!!

still need help...this is kicking my a** and i have no clue where to even start...the problem has to be in the map light circuit (the fuse that i pull to make everything work normally...except obviously the interior lights)

im thinking the problem may be with the wires that are cut on the dash harness....the harness for the radio had a cut wire or 2...still cant figure out where a couple other wires go to...some are blue others are red with orage tracers or vice versa...not sure but will get exact colors tomorro and going to look at another unmolested harness in the junkyard hopefully...still any help is appreciated!

if it's an aftermarket stereo check the wiring, i had this same problem on 3 of my cars a few years ago, took a while before i realized it happened after i installed a new stereo. pull the stereo out, disconnect all the wires that are spliced, check if they stay on, if they turn off, you're done, just rewire the stereo right.

if they don't turn off after the splices are seperated, start following the harness, you probly have a short somewhere.

yea it seems like the stereo as that is where wires are cut...i know the black/red wire for the input to the head unit was cut i put that 1 back together...theres also a red/yellow wire and a few blue wires cut

yea, best bet, disconnect all the wires and start over. pin point which wires are which, if you don't know, start at the speaker. see which speakers have which color wires (if they're still stock) and that'll get 8 wires outta your way. then you should have your hot, ign, ground, ant, and maybe a few others. try to refrain from putting the hot and ign together to the two for the power to the stereo, that'll causes problems sometimes. also another thing to check when you re connect the stereo, with the stereo on, turn the parking lights on to make sure you still don't have crossed wires. did that too, stereo would work till i turned the lights on, then it would turn off. haha.
