1992 240sx ac keeps cylicing during idle

I KEEP HEARING THE COMPRESSER KICKING ON ON OFF. THE CONTROL UNIT ON TH DASH LIGHTS UP AND SEEMS TO BE O.K COULD IT BE THE RELAY BEHIND THE DRIVER HEADLIGHT? I AM AT A LOSS AS TO TROUBLESHOOT THIS PROBLEM. ALSO THE A.C BLOWS COLD. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP, JOHN
