The digital speedometer on my 92 SX lights up yet does not move off of 0 MPH

Any ideas what could be causing this

Another clue is that the car will not shift into 4th gear

Thanks

I would have a local Auto mechanic hook up a comp to see if ur Speedometer Sensor is bad.....

sounds like it could be bad speed sensor, maybe ? look into

http://www.blazt.biz

one of the most valueable things i ever got for diagnosis weird stuff

however, i always thought that if the sensor was bad it wouldn't output anything at all. Another test would be to find another analog cluster and see if it works, it could be the electronics in the electronic speedo goofing up (they do this alot).

Also, disregard my last post in the other thread, you probably might want to still try it, but i am not sure if the ECU on the autos use the VSS at all to determine shifting to higher gear.

Also note that to goes VSS -> Speedo -> ECU, so whatever the speedo sees is what the ECU sees, and if the speedo is not working/not hooked up then the ECU just sees 0mph.

Another thing might be to jack it up, and clean the sensor contacts and everything really good, might make a difference.
